December fishing

December is here and so are the flounder. I’m catching easy limits of flounder along the channel here in Galveston.  Redfish are coming over the rail in good numbers when it’s not too rough to get out to the jetties. Offshore is pretty much non existent while we wait for January 1 and amberjack season … Continued

Friday the 13th. Not so bad

Friday the 13th is filled with superstition but turns out the fish gods smiled on us anyway. We had s beautiful, calm day on the Gulf of Mexico. We ran out about 80 miles where we caught our limit of king mackerel, amberjack and 2 cobia.  The water is 80 degrees and the fish are … Continued

April 27 report

ive been fishing the jetties and several different spots in Galveston bay proper this past week.  The speckled trout action has really improved since the monsoons of two weeks ago. I’ve been catching limits or near limits every trip.  The redfish action is strong and a few sharks have shown at the jetties. There was … Continued

April 14 report

Cloudy and light winds met me this morning but the fish didn’t seem to mind.  Sheepshead and bull reds are still showing in good numbers.  The water continues to warm and should soon bring speckled trout and Spanish mackerel to the beach as well.  Hopefully the cobia will show soon in the nearshore waters to … Continued

Spring time in Galveston.

February is almost over and spring is in the air here in Galveston.  Fishing is picking up and the weather is beautiful.  Our recent trips have been seeing full stringers of sheepshead, redfish and a few speckled trout.  The huge black drum are here with catches of 10-15 per trip happening lately.  Offshore trips have … Continued

February fishing

February is here along with Mardi Gras and foggy mornings. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are being caught on our trips out to the Galveston jetties. Sheepshead make for good eats while the huge black drum and oversized red drum are a lot of fun, low pressure fish to catch.   I haven’t made any … Continued

While over the past few months ain’t seen much fishing, I have been busy rebuilding both motors and giving the boat some much needed tlc. Report 10/2015

Well, let’s see where to start. At the end of August I was invited to bring the boat down to Matagorda for a few days of fishing. We fished from 40-60 miles out everyday and caught amberjack to 80 lbs, black fin tuna, released lots of huge snapper. Boxed a few cobia and several kingfish. … Continued

It’s been a while since last report but dog days of summer are here and I just forget sometimes.  Speckled trout fishing on the jetties has been better this year than in the past 2-3 years. We are catching limits or close to it every trip. Red drum are there but not in big numbers yet but that should be changing soon. Nearshore the shark and king mackeral fishing is hot with some big sharks being caught. Red snapper season is over but amberjack has opened and the shrimp boats are out.  We are catching amberjack, cobia, kingfish and black fin tuna when we can get out deep enough. Dorado are a little tougher since the weed lines haven’t been here this summer.
